The brief: design an 800 sqft artist studio for a school project. The approach: I chose to design for my personal mentor, Enrique Martinez Celaya, drawing inspiration from the raw, light-filled industrial warehouses of LA’s Crenshaw district. The result: a space that honors the grit and authenticity of its neighborhood context while providing the expansive, contemplative environment an artist of his caliber requires.
